A shout out to Garmin

If you read my recent post on my catastrophic blow out on the Vendetta and the damage it caused to both myself and my gear, you will know that I managed to destroy one of the Garmin Vector 3 power meter pedals when I hit the ground at speed. This was a potentially expensive crash as the pedals cost £850. Ouch! However things have turned out rather better than I could have hoped. I got in touch with Garmin and despite the fact that the crash was not something that would be covered under warranty (obviously!) they offered to replace the pedals for £107. I suspect the fact that they are coupled together but unusable on their own may be a factor – I had a £425 paperweight in the right hand pedal after the crash afer all – but still, I was very impressed with this offer.

I sent back the old pair about a week ago. The new pedals arrived today – a completely new set, new box, new everything.

So this is just a shout out to Garmin for their excellent customer service. Thank you, I am impressed 🙂

  1. That’s pretty good service and shrewd PR too. Either way it’s nice that they responded so well. Hope you’re recovering well after that incident.
Imagine the snow down your way is still a bit of a impediment at moment?

  2. Thanks David, I’m pretty much back to normal, am thinking about whether or not tubeless is a good idea again. The comfort factor at 100 PSI on tubed Duranos is nowhere near as nice. It’s the road chatter on the back of the head, a lot of that was absent on the Padrone tubeless tyres at 70 PSI. The snow is starting to melt, but it’s still way too much to think about cycling outside.I did a three hour session on the turbo at the weekend – watched Heat on amazon Prime to stop myself going insane! Great film, although the music seems a little dated after 20 years.
